A NECO token is the 12-digit code you need to view your result on the National Examinations Council (NECO) result portal. If you wrote the SSCE Internal or External exam, you cannot see your grades without a NECO result checker token. This guide explains how NECO token purchase works, where you can buy, and how to avoid paying for a token that does not work.
What is a NECO token?
A NECO token is an electronic PIN that replaces the old physical scratch card. It is tied to ONE candidate's result, and the same token can be used up to five times to check that result, after which you cannot use another token. If you are checking for a sibling or classmate, each person needs their own token. But you can buy for them easily.
What you need before you buy
A phone or computer with an internet connection.
A working email address and phone number, because the token is sent to them.
Your NECO registration number (which is a combination of 10 digits and 2 letters e.g. 9256649812GA), which you will need after you buy, when you check the result.
A debit card, bank transfer or USSD option to pay.
Two ways to buy a NECO token
1. Directly from NECO. Create an account or log in, then choose Purchase Token and pay. NECO sets its own fee, so check the amount shown on the portal.
2. From an online vendor such as Cegital. Cegital is an authorized token vendor and reseller of NECO. Many students prefer a vendor because the token is sent straight to their email and phone and they get support if something goes wrong.
How to buy a NECO token on Cegital
Open the NECO card page and click Buy Now.
Choose how many tokens you need.
Enter your name, phone number and email address. Double-check them, because your token is delivered there.
Click Pay. You can pay with a debit or credit card, bank transfer or USSD. Payments are processed by Paystack.
Your token is displayed on the screen and also sent to your email. Copy your token when it arrives, then use it on the NECO result portal.
If you lose your token, you can look it up using the transaction tracker instead of paying again.

How to avoid fake NECO tokens
Never buy from random WhatsApp or Telegram accounts that ask you to pay first.
Check that the seller has a real website, a refund policy and contact details.
Test your token on the NECO portal soon after buying, so any problem is caught early.
How to Check Your Neco Results Using Neco Token
Visit the NECO Result Checking Website: www.results.neco.gov.ng
Select your Exam Year from the drop down menu.
Select your Exam Type. Note: For Neco School Exams (i.e. May/June), select "SSCE Internal (Jun/Jul)"; for Neco GCE Exams, select "SSCE External (Nov/Dec)."
Input your unique Token bought from our site.
Enter your NECO Registration. NB: Your Registration Number is a twelve-digit alphanumeric (i.e. it consists of eight numbers and two letters) e.g. 9256642398GA.
Click on "CHECK RESULT."
Congratulations! Your Neco Result is displayed in a new window.
You can now Print or save as PDF for later use.
